How to pray to Jesus

Learning how to pray to God according to the bible: Practical Prayer Guide The word “prayer” is very common to us all, yet most people do not understand the full meaning of it. Today, places of worship abound, where people gather for worship, to praise and pray to God, our Almighty Creator. Diverse doctrines of all biblical based religions and faiths How to pray the Rosary step by step with Prayerscannot and will not change the “ever known ancient” pattern of prayer and supplication showcased in the scriptures. Learning how to pray to God and constantly praying has helped a lot of people get out of troubles, both in our time and in biblical times.

The scripture is the standard upon which one can rely and experience the superfluous imminence and transcendent light from God. Through prayers, one can tap from the divine energy of God; the energy will help unlock the doors and windows of blessings, success, healing, good health, uplift and spiritual bliss, etc.

What is Prayer?

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, prayer is an address to God in word or thought. Prayer means talking to God in the form of giving Him praise, thanks, expressing one’s needs or desires. However, I define prayer as the “Consciousness tune-up of the inner self”, toward the throne of the presence of the Almighty God.

Most people say prayer is the close Communication with God in spirit. Prayer brought quick answers and Solutions to our needs

What I mean is that, when we pray, we tend to elevate our consciousness towards a more lofty existence than the one we are already in. When we pray, we are actually bringing ourselves closer to a communion with the divine; and when we have a communion with our creator, when we in a meeting with our maker, we have every opportunity to tender our request.

A good example to describe the instance of praying to God is one having a meeting with a king. Imagine you have the opportunity once a year to meet with the king of your land, won’t you prepare the best way you can and cherish every moment of the meeting. If we will do so for an earthly king and ruler, how much more we should do for the ruler of the whole universe. The most interesting part is that, the ruler of the whole universe desires and is ever willing to listen to our prayers.

"We talked to the Almighty God "the maker" through prayers while he talked to us through the scriptures of his words in Bible"
Some times comes as a prayer revalation and dreams".

There is no distinction to a class of people for whom prayer is made for. Everyone can pray depending on one’s understanding of actually what prayer is and what one needs.

The challenging vicissitudes of life cannot come to an end as long as this earth endures {Genesis 8:22}

While do you Pray

1. The essence of prayer is to draw us closer to our creator and at the same time we can use the opportunity to entreat our creator to ease off our problems and grant us our heart desires.

2. Communication to your maker in spirit

3. Quick answers to any of your problem

4. Submit/asked of God for you need your help and get Solutions to any. Etc

Understanding Prayer

In the book of Genesis, it is stated “Jacob in his dream saw ladder plunged from the earth reaching the heaven. Angels were ascending and descending from it to earth. {Genesis 28:12}. It means that man’s pure thought (meditative prayer} and pure verbal statement (invocative prayer} to God, ascends through the gate (ladder) of prayer plunged from earth to heaven.

Prayer then can be said to be the request of whatever one needs with supplications to the almighty God; who in turn supplies it to him from the throne (store house) through the same ladder of request.

Steps by steps on how to #Pray to #God

1. Prepare your mind and heart:

Prayer is an action that requires the unification of the mind and the heart. Our heart harbours emotions while our mind nurtures thoughts and reasons. Our hearts create the emotions that spark thoughts and our minds decide how to express those thoughts. To pray, one needs to unify his mind and heart, and that is when we say that we are in the mood to pray. To be in the mood to pray, means, we have aligned our minds to express our hearts’ emotions.

You do not necessarily need to go to the mountains to put yourself in the mood to pray, but you need to create the awareness of divinity around you before you can pray fervently. God is everywhere, but to feel His presence, you need to tune up the divine consciousness around you before we can feel it.

Some of the ways to prepare the mind and heart to pray to God.

Singing praises and worships before praying: Doing this elevates our consciousness from the mundane to a lofty consciousness and realm of existence.

Meditation: This involves clearing the mind of every thought and focusing on one thought, which is the divine. Meditation will assist you to feel vibrations of higher frequencies that normally you cannot feel. In meditation your body will be there but your consciousness is somewhere else. Meditation is most times practiced by people who have mastered how to control their thoughts and emotions.

Concentration: This practice involves clearing your mind of every distraction to give attention to a particular action. This is some worth like meditation. But meditation sometimes requires the use of certain materials to influence consciousness tune-up. It might also require you go to a quiet place; however, to concentrate does not necessarily need such. This is the practice that suits short prayers in an uncomfortable environment.

2. Start by Thanking God

When you are in the mood to pray to God, the first action in prayer is to offer thanks to the creator for all He has done, is doing and will continue to do. When we appreciate Him for all He has done, He will be willing to do more. Thank Him for the gift of life, health, business, food shelter, money, safety, etc; remember that whatsoever you have is the gift of God, for riches and honour come from the Lord 1 Chronicles 29:12.

3. Ask for divine forgiveness.

The next prayer point after thanking God should be asking Him for forgiveness. The bible says “Blessed is the man whose sins the Lord does not count against.” Psalm 32:2.

It is also stated in the book of Isaiah 59:1-2 saying “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save nor His ear dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from God”. However, we do not need to panic as long as we have made up to repent, return to God and ask for forgiveness, “For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord; repent and live.” Ezekiel 18:32.

4. Speak as the Spirit Leads

At this point you can table all your requests and supplications before the Almighty God, however, make sure you also ask Him for the grace to always draw close to Him and to always do His will. When you ask God for something, implore His grace and favour. “For His mercies endures forever.” Psalm 136-2.

Ask your needs from God with sincerity of heart. Say your heartfelt prayers with a broken and a contrite; heart for God does not despise such heart. Psalm 51-17. When you request form God of anything, do not ask randomly, be specific and give reasons why He should do what you asked of Him. For example, when you ask God for money, tell Him what you need the money for, e.g. education, feeding, charity, etc. Doing so will make you ask reasonably and for a reasonable course.

5.Thank God in Anticipation for a Favourable Answer

When you do this, it’s as if God is the one now owing you.  For you have declared to him that you have unwavering faith in Him.

6. Pray for Others

When we pray to God for others, our prayers get answered faster. So, consider praying for others as you pray for yourself.

7. Back up your Prayer with Events in the Bible

Spiritual Activities That Work with Prayers

1. Fasting

As a religious term, fasting can be defined as the process of abstaining from eating food during a prayer session. It is a ritual that was commanded by God in the bible Leviticus 23:32, and was practiced by a lot of people in the bible.

Fasting is a spiritual exercise that helps in spiritual growth and imbues spiritual discipline. Most times in the scriptures when people fasted, they did so as a penance intended to serve as reparation for the act of sin. 1Samuel 7:5-7, Nehemiah 9:1-3, Jonah 3:69. In biblical era, fasting is most sometimes associated with acts like wearing sackcloth and putting ashes on the head.

There is a mystical and spiritual benefit associated with fasting. When one fasts, he burns fat and blood, in this process; it is as if the person in question is already bringing himself/herself as a living sacrifice before God.

2. Keeping the Laws of God

One cannot be in sin that grace may abide. If you love me keep my commandments. A lot of people, in the name of receiving grace, have rejected the laws of God. The laws of which God Himself said which “keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the lord.” Leviticus 18:5.

Fellowship With God: Meaning, Marks and Benefit

Fellowship with God. Is this another myth in Christendom or does it hold any form of significance? Of what benefit is fellowship with God? Are we to neglect it or prioritize it for other kingdom matters?

fellowship with God

What does it mean to have fellowship with God? These questions will find worthy answers as you go through the letters of this article. It is my belief that God will by this means create an awakening in our spirits for fellowship with Him.

What Is Fellowship With God?

The word fellowship is derived from the Greek word "koinonia". Koinonia refers to intimacy, communion, joint participation, and sharing with a personality. Therefore, fellowship with God is simply building intimacy, communing, sharing, jointly participating in the life, suffering, glory and power of God.

On more basic grounds, fellowship with God is communing with -- talking to Him and having Him talk back to you -- while also partaking in all He is about in a bid to achieving intimacy with a sovereign God.

Apostle Paul summed up what fellowship with God should produce in Philippians 3:10 and that is experientially knowing Him, the power of Christ's resurrection, partaking in His sufferings and conforming to His image.

So why is it important? Why is it necessary to have fellowship with God? The next section gives one reason which by all standards and from the consideration of His sovereignty is reason enough to want to fellowship with Him.

God Desires Fellowship

Yes and Yes Again! God passionately craves for and desires to have fellowship with you and I. This constitutes a large percentage of the reason behind the creation of man.

God's intent for creating man was so that there would be a life-form that could host the dimensions of God and interact with Him. In few words, man was created for fellowship with God.

The angels, Elders and other heavenly beings were incapacitated and did not sustain the ability to interact with God nor host His dimensions. They cried Holy whenever God showed up because they were unable to articulate and comprehend who God is.

The word "Holy" does not imply holiness. It means "In your own class" or "set apart". God to them was in His own class and none of them had the faculties to understand Him or discern who He is.
Man was then created so that God could be expressed, known, and revealed. Through fellowship with man God was going to get this done.

God was going to make man understand who He was, host His dimensions and express them on the earth by the protocol of fellowship.

After creating man and placing him in the garden east of Eden, in the cool of the day, God would come into the garden just to have fellowship with Adam. Imagine the Almighty leaving His throne in Heaven to fellowship with man. From all indications, God was truly desirous of fellowship.

Moving away from the story of creation, having delivered the children of Israel from captivity in Egypt, God told them:

Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine - Exodus 19:5 (ESV)

What God was trying to achieve with this was fellowship. If you keenly study the rest of the verses in Exodus chapter 19, you would see that God desired to have fellowship with Israel. Now, we are the spiritual Israel - having been delivered from the bondage of sin and death - God's desire has not changed. He wants to have fellowship with you.

Note this: God is much more interested in fellowship with you and you would ever be.

You may want to wave off the thought for fellowship feeling it does not matter.Unfortunately, that is detrimental and you would be doing that at your own risk.

Why You Must Fellowship With God

I will not bombard you with reasons why you must fellowship with God. The fact that God desires to fellowship with you is reason enough to fellowship with Him. I would say that again:

You must fellowship with God because He desires to have fellowship with you and because He created you, you do not have an option. God's sovereignty is binding.

Think about this.

A God who can not be approached, One who sits in the midst of inapproachable light has made Himself available for fellowship with man. Man who is just one of His creation and you think that man has a choice as regards fellowship with Him? I would answer that. Absolutely No!

Why do you think the devil fought man? Job and David repeatedly asked what is man? They could not understand why God was so generous to man. They wondered why man was so favored in the sight of God to be given the sacred privilege of interacting with God.

The devil envied what man shared with God. The God he knew would not condescend to fellowship with man. But then, God did so. Oh, the blessedness of fellowship. Man partaking in the very nature of God. That which the devil sought was handed over to us on a platter.

You are not strong enough to want to build your life outside of fellowship with God. It was man's attempt to build something outside God that got us into the mess we wallowing in now.

Man tried to run the life God gave him without God the giver and we see what it has brought us -- evils, troubles, turbulence and so on --. Trying to run our lives whilst relegating God and fellowship with God is like trying to live without oxygen -- certainly impossible.

We have decided to operate by intellectualism, instincts and science as against the original template for our existence which is fellowship with God. By design, man was not supposed to live on his own but in partnership with a spirit.

The dependence feature installed in man by God was God's idea to ensure that man kept the ordinance and protocol of fellowship. Sadly, man declared independence consequent on the fall in Genesis 3.
We devised and concocted systems and philosophies for living which did not have God in view.

As we continued on the path we had chosen by ourselves we degraded into chaos, darkness and gloom. This is what Prophet Jeremiah realized when he cried out:

I know, O LORD, that the way of a man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps. - Jeremiah 10:23 (KJV)

The way of a man is not for the man to choose. Our understanding and foresight is too shallow to discern the right path to take. Yet, we choose a path and began to walk through it and it has been the source of the terrible things making the rounds today.

God Is Our Life-Source

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life. - Job 33:4 (KJV)

From the scripture above, it is clear that God is our life-source. It is from Him that we draw our essence. Notice it says "...and the breath of the Almighty gives me life" That statement is in the present continuous form. This implies that our existence is supposed to be hinged on fellowship with God.

Today men are confused, systems are failing, nothing seems sustainable. All of these is because men declared independence from God when we were created to depend on Him. Men have taken control of their lives when their lives were supposed to be controlled by God.

Have you not wondered why there is so much darkness in the world? Have you not wondered why everything seems to be crashing down? Systems are failing and the world is plunging into decadence?
I can give you a clear, straight-forward and incontestable answer to all the questions above. It is our negligence to fellowship with our life-source. The one who created all and designed us to be dependent on Him.

This can not be the world God created in the beginning when He said it was good. The world today is definitely not what God created in Genesis 1. There has been an alteration, an aberration and we can trace it to our rebellion and arrogance.

It was not recorded that there was a global warming, or a landslide, or a tsunami, or a hurricane, or any of the woes plaguing the world today when Adam was in the garden having constant fellowship with the Father. Adam's fellowship with God caused a stability in all of the forces of nature.

And when we rebelled? The results are evidently seen around us. Everything came from God and to keep them in perfect operational conditions we must engage the protocol of fellowship.

The Cure For Darkness

For the darkness and chaos the world is currently experiencing there can be only one solution -- Light.
Apostle John tells us that God is light. And one of the benefit we derive from fellowship with Him is that we interact with light. Our interaction with light makes us become lights ourselves.

This interaction makes it impossible for us to walk in darkness. As we interact with God, we become light and as such when we enter a place what happens is recorded in John 1:5

And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

What was translated "comprehended" should have been "apprehended". When light comes, it is impossible for darkness to stop it. Darkness can not help but vanish at the sight of light. It can never extinguish light.

The darkness in the world will become history when more and more individuals who have interacted with the Light in fellowship invade the world shinning as burning luminaries. Away from the world view into our lives and homes.

Has the devil not kept our lives, families, businesses and all that concerns us in darkness for too long? Has we not given him a field-day enough? Has he not wrecked enough damage?

Are cyclic manipulations and bondage not the order of the day in our lives? Have you not suffered so much setback, limitation and disappointment? Is this the best your life can be?

Your strength and intellect have failed in helping you secure a good life. Don't you think it is time to say enough to the devil and end his reign of darkness and terror in your life?
Fellowship with God, Our Father is the way out.

In Him was life; and that Life was the Light of men. - John 1:4 (KJV)

How To End Ridicule And Mockery In Your Life

Have You Been Mocked and Ridiculed Before? Has Your Life Been Subject To Ridicule & Mockery? Have Situations, Circumstances and Issues of Life Made You Suffer Ridicule and Mockery From Peers and Family?

how to end ridicule and mockery.jpg

Then today, I will show you how to end all forms of ridicule and mockery in your life. It is needful to do so because God did not create you to be mocked by men. He did not create you to be an epitome of ridicule.

Jesus teaching in Matthew 5:16 said:

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

God desires that your life brings Him glory. By implication when men ridicule you and mock you, you are not living in accordance to the plan and purpose of God for your life. Your life is expected to bring glory to God, mockery and ridicule are foreign to you.

Men are supposed to look at your life and wonder, glorifying God. Just in case, they look at your life and mockery comes out of their mouths it shows there is a problem.

The life of every child of God is expected to be a sign and a wonder to the world. Isaiah 8:18 says

“Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.”

A sign and a wonder can not be mocked. If God has said you are the light of the world and a sign and wonder and your life is still mocked it shows there is a distortion in the original configuration.

How then do you bring an end to mockery and ridicule in your life?

Results stops insults. People will definitely mock and ridicule you when your life is supposed to produce results and they do not see the results coming forth. A life without results can not escape mockery and ridicule.

Let me share a personal testimony.

There is a prayer group that meets once in a week to pray. When they began I said so many wrong things about them (which I truly regret). I made comments like "If I was God, I would blocked my ears with an earphone when they prayed", "They will soon stop it is just initial zeal (what Nigerians refer to as initial gara-gara)" and so on.

Just recently, I began to notice the amazing things this prayer group was reckoned to be achieving, how God was using them to do great things, even revealing deep things to them. I who criticized them before was tempted to join (I can not join though because the group is actually gender-based).

What happened?

RESULTS. The group began to produce results and I could not deny the fact that they were doing something very many of us, including myself, are not doing. The results they began to produce shut my mouth from being able to speak any form of criticism.

We can argue with the fact that a woman is fruitful but all arguments will cease the moment the woman takes in and after nine months gives birth. The answer to mockery is not an intelligent speech or an apologetic sermon. It is RESULT.

Even Jesus cursed a fig tree which did not have results (fruits) in Matthew chapter 21 verse 19. Without results, men will curse you. Your life will never escape the insults and ridicule of men when you fail to produce results. Both God and men are interested in your production of results.

“Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”
— John 15:8

What should you do to produce results in your life, results that will end ridicule and mockery forever. To get results you must

Jesus said:
“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
— John 15:5

We are likened to branches and by default we know that a branch can not bear fruit if it is detached from the tree. In the same vein, we can not bear fruits when we live apart from God.

Our lives will only produce results when we abide in God and rely solely on Him for sustenance. The easiest route out of mockery and ridicule to the place of overflowing bounties of results is by abiding in God.

I need to correct a notion and that is abiding in God simply means giving your life to Christ. That is only part the equation. The concept of abiding in God is about fellowshipping and communing with God.

Man was birthed from the womb of communion and he is expected to live by communion. Apostle Mike Orokpo said the answer to the chaos and turbulence in the world is men of communion. The world and the church is dilapidated and ruined because men of communion are no longer on the scene.

The only way you can turn around the mockery of me is for you to begin producing results and your life begins to produce results when you begin to engage God consistently in the secret place. Communion with the Father is your ticket out of a life of ridicule and mockery.

It is in continual communion with God that you can be sure of getting your prayers answered. This is because

"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you"– John 15:7

A man who dwells in the secret place of the Most High can never have his life in mockery or ridicule.

Why am I so sure of this? One of the things we do as part of our communion with and to God is the study and meditation of God's word. When we want to commune with God, we pick up His word, study and take out time to meditate on it.

Now see Psalms 1:1-3

"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper"

The man whose delight is the law, who meditates on the law day and night (vs 2) shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water. This man shall bring forth fruit in his season (vs 3).

The concluding part of verse 3 is overwhelming. It says "and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper". You can not afford to be unproductive when you are given to communing and fellowshipping with God.

If you are tired of the ridicule of men then you must turn your face to God and keep your gaze on Him until He turns your situation around. Communion is the Way.

Another way to end ridicule and mockery in your life is by

The anointing of the Spirit of God is the most important capital of a believer's life. The anointing is not for men of God like we have believed it to be but for every believer.

Apostle Joshua Selman said there are two characteristics of a blessed man. One that man must have knowledge and secondly he must be very anointed. If your life must change, it will do so by the anointing of the spirit.

How can the anointing of the Spirit eliminate ridicule and mockery in your life? How will the anointing turn your life around so that men will see you and all they will want to do is to glorify God?

Let's look at just one scripture and that would be Mark 1:35

And when they had found him, they unto him, ALL MEN SEEK FOR THEE

In the scripture above, Jesus had gone to pray and when His disciples found Him they told Him that He was been sought by all men. Does this strike a chord? Does this ignite anything in you?

How can one man be sought by all men? What this implied is that Pharisees, Sadducees, Scribes, Publicans, Tax collectors, Fishermen, Priests and so on were looking for one man – Jesus. What did Jesus had that made this possible?

Relating "All Men" to our day and time. It means Politicians, Doctors, Lawyers, Bankers, Engineers, Masons, Educationist, Agriculturists, Children, and so on seek one man. What can a man carry that will make him to be relevant among believers and non-believers alike.

The answer is in Acts 10:38

"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power; who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him"

The anointing of the Spirit of God was what brought Jesus to that realm of relevance such that all men sought Him.

Can that happen to you today?
Can you stop men from ridiculing and mocking you to start looking and seeking for you?

Yes you can! You can by becoming anointed.
The anointing is not for ministers of God alone. It is for every believer. It is for people who no longer want to be ridiculed and mocked by men. This is for people who want to be so anointed that their lives become a testament of the glory of God.

Would you end ridicule and mockery in your life? Then become highly anointed. Earnestly pray for the anointing of the Spirit.

Were you blessed? I am sure you were. Before you go share this article and leave me a comment

How To Enter The Secret Place of The Most High

entering the secret place.jpg

The secret place of the Most High is a place of fellowship, intimacy and communion with the Father by the help of the Holy Spirit. It is a place where believers initiate bonding with God's Spirit.

It is the place of intercourse. A place where the Divine swallows up humanity and the flesh laid bare before the eternal Spirit.

There is so much one can say about what the secret place is about but it is important to note that there are certain requirements which must be met before anyone can make entry into the secret place.

I mentioned the following as the requirements for entering the secret place.
  • Right-Standing or Righteousness
  • A Call
  • Hunger
  • Quickening

Until these requirements are met, entry into the secret place would be hindered. Follow me as I explain these requirements.

1. Right-Standing or Righteousness

The first requirement for entering the secret place is right-standing with God also known as righteousness.

The secret place is a place where God dwells. God detest sin hence anyone who is in sin can never locate the secret place because sin and God can never dwell together.

David asked, Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? (Psalms 24:3). The answer in verse 4 is summarized as a man who is righteous.

A sinner can not have access to the secret place. Sin is one of the major hindrances to the secret place because the holiness of God can not admit sin or a sinner into the secret place.

To enter the secret place, one must rid him/herself of sin. God is ever ready to interact and commune with us but sin poses a hindrance (Isaiah 59:2).

You can only gain entry and enjoy the benefits of the secret place of the Most High when you have exited the nature of sin and began living righteously.

2. A Call

Dwelling in the secret place is a spiritual activity. And it is only possible by partnership with the Spirit of God. Trying to enter the secret place by an act of your will or desire is a venture that would end in utter futility.

What I mean is this, you can not enter into the secret place because you want to or choose to. You can only come into the secret place when the Spirit calls you.

Jesus explains this concept in John 6:44

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

No man can come into the place of fellowship by an act of his/her will. Men come into fellowship with God because He(God) by His Spirit calls them.

In the first part of Songs of Solomon chapter one verse four, the Bible says

Draw me, we will run after you...

Men come into the secret place by virtue of a call.

I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.” – Hosea 11:4

It would be difficult to go into the secret place except God calls and draws you into it.

... Today if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your heart... – Psalms 95:7-8

The Spirit of God is constantly calling out to your spirit even NOW. Say YES to that call and enter into the secret place.

3. Hunger

One of the test of spiritual healthiness is hunger for God. Hunger is a very good sign spiritually. It signifies that one is alive spiritually.

A man who is hungry for God will readily want to dwell in the secret place. David expressed an undying hunger for God which is very much evident in his book of Psalms.

In Psalms 63, David was in the wilderness. What every normal human would seek in the wilderness is food and water but David sought something else.

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;” – Psalms 63:1

Hunger for God continually drove David into the secret place. Without hunger for God, the secret place will be an uncomfortable place to dwell.

4. Quickening

Like I said earlier on, dwelling in the secret place is a spiritual function which makes it a daunting task to accomplish in the flesh.

You can not perform a spiritual function effectively unless you are helped by a spirit. In the flesh and by the energy of the flesh we can not conduct ourselves into the secret place. We must be quickened by a spirit to perform a spiritual function.

In Psalms 80:18, the Psalmist prayed thus;

"So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name."

Without quickening, we would not find the secret place conducive for dwelling. A man who would consistently dwell in the secret place would do so by partnering with the Spirit of God. you

It is only spirits that can be consistent. A human can only be consistent when he/she is quickened by a spirit. The Spirit of God will have to get you quickened before you can enter and dwell in the secret place.

Apostle Paul to the Romans;

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” – Romans 8:11

The secret place is primarily governed by the Spirit of God. He is responsible for quickening you into the secret place and conducting you around it.

  • Anyone who is in sin can not enter into the secret place because sin and God can never dwell together
  • You can only enter into the secret place when you are called into it
  • A man who is hungry for God will readily dwell in the secret place
  • You can not perform a spiritual function unless you are helped and quickened by a Spirit

The Man That God Uses...

the man that God uses.jpg

Who is the man that God uses?
What makes up the man that God will make use of?
What is the posture a man must take to be a readily useful vessel for the service of the Master?

God even though He is sovereign is limited in His operations on the earth. This is because He has willed the earth to men and has apportioned it as a territory to be dominated by man.

The Psalmist in Psalms 115:16 said:

"The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath He given to the children of men."

Furthermore in Psalms 8:6-8:

"For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

The heaven is the place of God's complete sovereignty while the earth is man's domain.

For God to do anything on the earth, He must find a man who would serve as His excuse or permission. Before God can do anything on the earth somebody must act as an intermediary allowing God to find expression on the earth.

There is great suffering in the world today not because God is a tyrant or because He is incapacitated to intervene. It is because men have not yielded themselves as excuses for God to act. The problem has never been God but the lack of yielded men.

And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” – Ezekiel 22:30

God is always seeking for men who would stand in the gap. If God decides to act without the excuse of man, He would be violating the law that governs territories.

Inasmuch as God needs men to carry out His purposes on the earth, there are clear cut characteristics of the man God uses. Men are God's methodology for operating in the earth but not every man is handy for God's usage.

To use a man, God has to work on that man, making sure that man bears a posture, is rid of certain tendencies and meet God's usability requirements. Our task is to identify these requirements and work on ourselves till we become God's tool for enforcing God's kingdom and will.

From scriptures and the lives of men who God have used in times past, we can draw out the requirements for the men that God uses.

1. A Man With A Pure Heart

In God's dealing with man the first thing He seeks to work on is the man's heart. The heart is the pivot of every man's life and whatever rules the heart rules the man.

This is why Solomon admonished in Proverbs 4:12, Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life

In Ezekiel chapter 14, certain elders came to inquire of the Lord through the Prophet Ezekiel and God gave the prophet a shocking revelation. God said:

Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?” – Ezekiel 14:3

God could speak to the Prophet Ezekiel because he was the only one with a pure heart in the gathering. The elders had placed idols in their heart and put the stumbling block of their iniquities before their face.

This is why the Psalmist prayed saying:

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” – Psalms 51:10

David knew that The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken-heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit (Psalms 34:18).

Once the heart of a man is corrupted, that man becomes unusable by God. Sin, pride, ambitions e.t.c corrupt the heart and if a man must be used of God, he must rid himself of these.

Like David we must pray thus:

"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." – Psalms 139:23-24

2. A Man Who Is Totally Surrendered To God.

God uses only willing vessels. God has no favourites in the kingdom. Any man who would be totally surrendered to God can be used of and by God. Even the man who has been written off by society, if he be surrendered totally to God can be used to wrought marvelous deeds.

To surrender is to let go of ambitions, aspirations, goals, desires that are aimed at generating a fleshy sense of fulfilment. The man that God would be used by God is that man who has taken his eyes off the world and the momentary pleasures the world can afford and has fixed his gaze on the master.

And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” – Mark 8:34

The man God will use is the man who denies himself, picks up his cross and fixes his gaze on the master. Such a man is not concerned about being the richest man on the world or driving the latest Benz or building an edifice but on enforcing the will of God.

3. A Lover of His Presence

In his letter to the church in Philippi, Apostle Paul wrote the words below:

"That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
" – Philippians 3:10,13-14

This was a man who is reckoned to be one of the greatest apostle of Bible times.
This was a man who was caught up in the third heavens and saw things unspeakable.
This was a man whose writings were some how difficult even for the self-ordained leader of the early church, Apostle Peter, to understand.

This was a man who got bitten by a viper and everyone expected him to die instantly but he simply shook the serpent into the fire and continued living.
This was a man from whom handkerchiefs went out to perform miracles.

Yet he still wanted to know God. He did not count himself to have achieved anything despite his amazing and elaborate profile. He still pressed to know God. He was a man who loved the presence of God.

The man that God uses is not a man who visits the secret place but a man who dwells there. God can only use a man to the degree of the knowledge of God the man has. The more of God a man knows the more useable he becomes.

The knowledge of God is not gotten by impartation but in the secret place of the Most High which is the academic facility of Heaven. Men who have been used by God have shown intense love for the presence of God and they dwell there.

Abraham would rise early in the morning and go to the place where he stood before the LORD (Gen 19:27). Moses would stay forty days and night on Mount Sinai talking with God (Exodus 34:28).

Elijah was able to make bold declarations because he stood before the LORD (1 Kings 17:1). David never lost a battle because he was always seeking the Lord like the deer seeks for water (Psalms 42:1). Jesus would rise a great while before daybreak and go to a solitary place and pray (Mark 1:35).

No man can be used by God who does not stay in His presence. In the presence of God, the secret place, God reveals His secrets to men. The presence of God is the greatest asset of the man of God because it is the place of renewal, rejuvenation and revival. Only men who loves and dwell in the presence of God can be used by God.

Dearly beloved, become God's excuse in your family, generation and the world. Become the man that God will use to enthrone and enforce His kingdom, principles, will, and culture on the earth to the end that the earth becomes an extension of heaven.

Stop giving the devil a foothold. Avail yourself as a tool for God's use. Master the points listed in this article.

  • God is handicapped without man because man is His methodology.
  • The man God uses is a man with a pure heart, who is surrendered to Him totally, one who loves and dwells in His presence.
  • No man can be used by God who does not stay in His presence.

The Unsung Benefits of The Secret Place

The benefits of dwelling in the secret place can not be measured in time. They have an eternal scope and worth. The full scope of the benefits of the secret place of the Most High can only be apprehended in eternity.

We can only know a limited version of the benefits of the secret place. I have outlined few of the benefits we can derive from the secret place of the Most High as I have seen in scriptures.

1. God's Divine Protection and Preservation

The secret place of the Most High is a channel of preservation and protection. If you read through the book of Psalm 91 you would see various promises of God as touching preservation and protection to the man who makes the the secret place his dwelling place.

In the face of the turbulence that is fiercely rocking the earth, one can not be oblivious of the fact that only Divinity can preserve and protect us. Accessing these divine preservation and protection is by the protocol of the secret place of the Most High.

King David was preserved countless times from his enemies and those who sought to kill him because he engaged the protocol of the secret place.

He said;
One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.” – Psalms 27:4

David spent time with God and this made him enjoy protection from the diverse attacks on his life. The formula still works even today. Spend quality time in the presence of God – the secret place of the Most High and see how God would jealousy guard your life and the lives of everyone associated and connected to you.

2. Knowledge and Understanding of the Ways of God

The secret place of the Most High is the academic facility of Heaven. It is God's institution for teaching men His ways, helping them understand Him, and bringing them into the reality of His kingdom.

David is an authority on the secret place. His book of Psalms reveals how much of a dweller of the secret place he was.

In Psalms 16:11, he said;

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

In chapter 36:9, he said;

"For with thee is the fountain of life: in the light shall we see light"

Also in chapter 144:1:

"Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight"

In chapter 25:4-5:

"Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.
Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

All of these are a product of dwelling in the secret place of the Most High. The ways of God are not imparted but taught and the Holy Spirit is the authorized teacher of God's word and the secret place is the academic facility for spiritual tutorials.

3. Access to Power and Authority

The prophet Elijah manifested great power and authority during his time on the earth. Once he told the King of Israel that there would be no rain and for the space of three (3) years and six (6) months there was no rain until he spoke otherwise (James 5:17-18).

He called down fire from heaven like he was calling an Uber driver. Once during his contest with the prophets of Baal in 1 Kings 18:38 he called down fire to consume the sacrifice.

On another occasion he was at the top of a hill probably communing with God and the king sent a captain and fifty soldiers to go and get the prophet, Elijah commanded fire to consume them.

Again, another captain and his fifty soldiers were sent to get Elijah and the prophet rained down fire on them. Such a feat was possible because Elijah dwelled in the secret place of the Most High. (2 Kings 1:9-12)

This earth is a field of contention. Scriptures say we wrestle not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12). Whether you agree or not, we are battling spirit forces and influences and only in the secret place of the Most High can we access power to battle victoriously.

4. Access to Mercy

One of the greatest advantages of the Christian Faith is mercy. Mercy is that advantage that qualifies you for something even though you are grossly unqualified.

It is mercy that makes God leave a man who has been seeking His face, praying and fasting for months and appears to a man who is puffing his cigarette under the bridge cursing God.

Dear reader, not everything must be laboured for. Some things are gotten by the "unfair" advantage of mercy.

"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
" — Lamentations 3:22-23

His mercies are new every morning and the only way we can access it is through the protocol of the secret place. You must spend time in the secret place to tap into the mercy allocated for that day.

5. Intimacy and Fellowship

One of the reasons why God redeemed mankind to Himself is so that we could have intimacy and fellowship with Him.

Jesus said:

"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me." – John 15:4

God is very much interested in fostering a relationship with you. He wants you to know Him as much as He knows you. There's nothing about God He wants to keep to Himself.

The secret place of the Most High gives us a platform to be close to God. To understand Him and to walk in Him. Nothing can be more blissful like being intimate with the God of Heaven.

One benefit of being intimate with God is that He gets to call you His friend and like Abraham, He would do nothing until He tells you. Is that not a privilege worth getting? Get into the secret place to enjoy!

6. Transformation

“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 3:18

The secret place of the Most High is a place where the lives of men are transformed. It is a place where a man's life can be altered and redefined.

Luke reveals of Jesus that "As He prayed, the fashion of His countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering" (Luke 9:29)

Also, Moses, in Exodus chapter 34 verses 29 to 35, had his face glowing after spending forty (40) days in the secret place.

Your life can never be the same again when you make the secret place your dwelling place. In the secret place, God fine-tunes and chisels a man into the shape He (God) desires. Your life will enjoy the transforming power of the Spirit when you dwell in the secret place.

What or Where Is The Secret Place of The Most High?

What is the secret place?
What does scripture mean by the secret place of the Most High?
Why is it important to dwell in the secret place of the Most High?

This article provides answers to the basic questions about the secret place and the immense benefits one can derive from dwelling in the secret place.

Psalm 91 is one very popular Psalm because it contains the concept of the secret place which is a quintessential embodiment of our Christian Faith.

Verse one of Psalms 91 says "He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty"

This shows us that there is a location called the secret place of the Most High and men can stay there. Not only can men stay in the secret place, the concluding part of the verse shows that there are benefits attached to staying in the secret place of the Most High.

What or where then is the secret place?

The secret place of the Most High is a place where man meets with God to foster and enact intimacy, communion and fellowship. It is a place whose chambers helps men orchestrate a deep relationship with God.

The secret place of the Most High is a place of brokenness, contriteness, consecration and sacrifice where a man condemns his flesh to a diminishing form allowing his spirit man to be conducted through the corridors of heaven for deeper intimacy with the Father.

God is In The Secret Place

It would not be called the secret place of the Most High if God was not present there. In Matthew 6, Jesus began to teach about prayer and He said in verse six (6):

"But thou, when thou prayest; enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, PRAY TO THY FATHER WHICH IS IN SECRET; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly"

You see the emphasis right? "...Pray to the Father which is in secret...". It is important for you to know that even though God is everywhere, He does not meet with people everywhere. There are dedicated meeting points agreed upon by God and man for meeting.

God, your Father, is in the secret place and He expects everyone of His children to dwell there with Him because it is the secret place that allows him to have intimacy and fellowship which He desires whilst helping men see who they are meant to be.

Oh how lovely it would be for believers to dwell in the secret place of the Most High.

The secret place of the Most High is both a physical location and a consciousness. Wait, stay with me.

The Physical Dimension of the Secret Place

The secret place of the Most High can be a physical location. A point having latitude and longitude by that I mean a geographical location.

And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD — Genesis 19:27

We see the patriarch Abraham in the scripture above getting up early in the morning from his tent to a "place" where he stood before the Lord. Indicative of the fact that there was a geographical location where our father, Abraham, dedicated to God as his secret place and point of meeting with the Lord.

The secret place as a physical location can be your bedroom, a mountain, an open field e.t.c as long as it affords you that space and serenity to be alone with God.

The Consciousness Dimension of the Secret Place

The secret place is a spiritual a concept as it is physical. This dimension of the secret place refers to the secret place as a realm, a consciousness which a believer carries about.

It is a point where the believer can be walking among men but he has his head up in Zion. He can be seated with people but is meeting with the council of heaven.

This consciousness was what gave prophet Elijah the boldness with which he stood before the King of Israel without fear nor favour and said " the LORD God of Israel liveth, BEFORE WHOM I STAND, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word" — I Kings 17:1

I hope you know that Elijah was standing in front of King Ahab when he made the statement above. How comes he said he was standing before the LORD God?

The location the prophet was talking about was not where he was standing in the physical. It was a spiritual location and he understood that because he was standing there he could stand before any authority on the earth.

Do not go about confronting humans, authorities, systems and powers until you are sure you are standing before the LORD God.

This consciousness dimension of the secret place of the Most High is what my friend, Amb Israel Emmanuel calls the Emmanuel's Dimension that is the "God with Us" dimension. This is an awareness that you carry God everywhere you go.

This dimension allows you have intimacy with God regardless of where you are. You can be at your work place going about your workplace duties and still be communing with your Father.

At this point, you become an envoy of His presence. A carrier and conductor of His possibilities. Hallelujah!

But before you get here, you must have spent time at a physical location with Him. God Himself imparts this consciousness in you by His spirit dwelling in you.
