New year's Resolutions

New year's resolutions are necessary because they set specific goals for one's life right at the beginning of a particular year.

A life without appropriate Personal goals is likely to be a life without any significant achievement. Daniel and the prodigal son made personal resolutions that helped them in different ways.

What are new year's Resolutions?

New year's resolutions are solemn decision made by individual at the beginning of a new year ( usually on 1 January) based on past experience and future aspirations. They are usually the results of a sober reflection on one's success and failures in several areas (religious, family, business, career, social, etc) aimed at improving one's life. New year's resolutions constitutes a unique type of peronal decision.

An Examples of New Year's Resolutions

Evangelism is the most important service Christians can render to God and humanity Because of the value of a soul.

Jesus gave us the Great commission:" And he said unto them, go ye into all the word, and preach the gospel to every creatures. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be Damned."(Mark 16:15-16). Redemption Through Jesus Christ

The last words of Jesus on Earth before he ascended to Heaven were on evangelism:"But he shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all judae, and in Samaria, and into the uttermost part of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

Consequently, one may make a resolution to engage in Personal evangelism for soul Winning. For example, some years ago, our founding fathers and pioneer international Director of Greater Evangelism World Crusade, Apostles Geoffrey D. Numbere (1944-2014), led at Least 25 persons to Christ within 2 weeks through peronal Evangelism.

Some Biblical Examples of Rewards for Victorious Christian Living?

This was the result of his personal resolutions from his New Year Sermon on the urgent need for individual preaching of the Gospel. He led by example.

Requirements for an Effective Resolution.

From the lives of Daniel and the prodigal Son, we can identify three requirements for an Effective Resolution.

1.  Jenuine conviction: it must come out of a genuine personal conviction about a bad thing you want o avoid or a good thing you want to do or improve upon. As a Jew, Daniel knew that idolatary was a sin against God (Exodus 20:1-6); the prodigal son hated the state of his life (Luke 15:14-17).

2. Specific Decision- make specific decision according to your situation. Daniel decided not to defile himself even in captivity (Daniel 1:1-8); the prodigal Son decided to return to his father for his forgiveness and resolution (Luke 15-18-19)

3. Steadfast Commitment- Like Daniel (Daniel 1:10-16) and the Prodigal son (Luke 15:20-21), you must carry out your resolutions with steadfast commitment. Note that procrastination is major obstacle to achieving one's goals.

What you must do as a Christian Every New year.

1. Please, write down your personal resolutions for this new year. Determine to achieve each of them.

2. Earnestly pray for God's grace and power to enable you execute your Resolution.

Some Biblical Examples of Rewards for Victorious Christian Living?

The theology of rewards remained an important theme. The Bible assures us of the reward awaits those who serve God willingly at all times (Hebrews 6:10). Paul also pointed out that God rewards those serve him faithfully (1Corinthians 3:13-14; 17;2 Timothy 4:7-8). The challenge of maintaining consistent victorious Christian Life will require patience as such the reward of those who endure to the end is heart cheering. This lession will encourage us to live everyday in anticipation of our day of reward.

The meaning of Rewards

Reward means a "thing given in return- something desirable given in return for what somebody has done". It's also "benefits" - "benefits Obtained as a result of actions taken or a job done" or "something of value given in return for an action"- "The result of an action good or bad".

The reward of a victorious Christian Living is therefore the recognition and benefits Given by the Lord Jesus Christ to believers who have fought a good flight of faith l, finished their course and kept the Faith (2Timothy4:7)The Man which God Uses

Biblical view of Rewards you must known as a Christian

The Biblical refers to rewards as something given to either a good or bad act (Galatians 6:7). The psalmist, for example speaks of "a reward of the wicked" (Psalm91:8 at the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, "He will reward each man according to his works" (Mathew 16:27). The reward of the godly in this present World is partly Realized, but is mainly reserved for eternity with the Lord (Luke 18:28-30).

God's reward does not come to us by our personal effort but by his righteousness imputed on us. God gives us the grace to live an overcoming life, and then crown's that grace with glory, hence, it's clear That the reward is not debt, but grace (1peter 1:13).

Rewards for victorious Christian

The promise of his rewards to the victorious Christian are expressed thus: they shall not be hurt of the second death. They would be given power over the nation's. They shall be clothed in white garment. Jesus will not blot their names out of the book of Life.

Jesus will acknowledge them before his father's and his Angels (Revelation 2:11-26; 3:5). In the same vein, the Lord promised us of His presence, Divine provision and protection.

We shall inherit all things and out relationship with God nudes forever. Also, there are rewards of crowns which include crown of righteousness, rejoicing life, glory and incorruptible which await them that truly believe and live overcoming and victorious life in Christ. (2 Timothy 4:7-8).

The Lord Jesus promised his true followers that he was going to prepare a place so that "where I am there shall also servant be;" we shall also be honourable by God the Father (John 12:26). We also have Rewards that are negative and pretend eternal consequences for non- victorious Christian Living.  Contacting Grace For Supernatural Exploits

The Lord warned those living. The Lord warned those deny him and live carelessly "him will I also deny before my father as which is in heaven" (Mathew 10:43). Again, those who do not endure, maintain their faith, remain in fellowship with Christ and such like, will loose the blessings of God here on Earth and most painfully, eternal life?

The Man which God Uses

Who is the man that God uses?

What makes up the man that God will make use of? What is the posture a man must take to be a readily useful vessel for the service of the Master?

God even though He is sovereign is limited in His operations on the earth. This is because He has willed the earth to men and has apportioned it as a territory to be dominated by man.

The Psalmist in Psalms 115:16 said:

"The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath He given to the children of men."

Furthermore in Psalms 8:6-8:

"For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
"

The heaven is the place of God's complete sovereignty while the earth is man's domain.

For God to do anything on the earth, He must find a man who would serve as His excuse or permission. Before God can do anything on the earth somebody must act as an intermediary allowing God to find expression on the earth.

There is great suffering in the world today not because God is a tyrant or because He is incapacitated to intervene. It is because men have not yielded themselves as excuses for God to act. The problem has never been God but the lack of yielded men.

And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” – Ezekiel 22:30

God is always seeking for men who would stand in the gap. If God decides to act without the excuse of man, He would be violating the law that governs territories.

Inasmuch as God needs men to carry out His purposes on the earth, there are clear cut characteristics of the man God uses. Men are God's methodology for operating in the earth but not every man is handy for God's usage.

To use a man, God has to work on that man, making sure that man bears a posture, is rid of certain tendencies and meet God's usability requirements. Our task is to identify these requirements and work on ourselves till we become God's tool for enforcing God's kingdom and will.

From scriptures and the lives of men who God have used in times past, we can draw out the requirements for the men that God uses.

1. A Man With A Pure Heart

In God's dealing with man the first thing He seeks to work on is the man's heart. The heart is the pivot of every man's life and whatever rules the heart rules the man.

This is why Solomon admonished in Proverbs 4:12, Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life

In Ezekiel chapter 14, certain elders came to inquire of the Lord through the Prophet Ezekiel and God gave the prophet a shocking revelation. God said:

Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?” – Ezekiel 14:3

God could speak to the Prophet Ezekiel because he was the only one with a pure heart in the gathering. The elders had placed idols in their heart and put the stumbling block of their iniquities before their face.

This is why the Psalmist prayed saying:

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” – Psalms 51:10

David knew that The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken-heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit (Psalms 34:18).

Once the heart of a man is corrupted, that man becomes unusable by God. Sin, pride, ambitions e.t.c corrupt the heart and if a man must be used of God, he must rid himself of these.

Like David we must pray thus:

"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." – Psalms 139:23-24

2. A Man Who Is Totally Surrendered To God.

God uses only willing vessels. God has no favourites in the kingdom. Any man who would be totally surrendered to God can be used of and by God. Even the man who has been written off by society, if he be surrendered totally to God can be used to wrought marvelous deeds.

To surrender is to let go of ambitions, aspirations, goals, desires that are aimed at generating a fleshy sense of fulfilment. The man that God would be used by God is that man who has taken his eyes off the world and the momentary pleasures the world can afford and has fixed his gaze on the master.

And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” – Mark 8:34

The man God will use is the man who denies himself, picks up his cross and fixes his gaze on the master. Such a man is not concerned about being the richest man on the world or driving the latest Benz or building an edifice but on enforcing the will of God.

3. A Lover of His Presence

In his letter to the church in Philippi, Apostle Paul wrote the words below:

"That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
" – Philippians 3:10,13-14

This was a man who is reckoned to be one of the greatest apostle of Bible times.
This was a man who was caught up in the third heavens and saw things unspeakable.
This was a man whose writings were some how difficult even for the self-ordained leader of the early church, Apostle Peter, to understand.

This was a man who got bitten by a viper and everyone expected him to die instantly but he simply shook the serpent into the fire and continued living.

This was a man from whom handkerchiefs went out to perform miracles.

Yet he still wanted to know God. He did not count himself to have achieved anything despite his amazing and elaborate profile. He still pressed to know God. He was a man who loved the presence of God.

The man that God uses is not a man who visits the secret place but a man who dwells there. God can only use a man to the degree of the knowledge of God the man has. The more of God a man knows the more useable he becomes.

The knowledge of God is not gotten by impartation but in the secret place of the Most High which is the academic facility of Heaven. Men who have been used by God have shown intense love for the presence of God and they dwell there.

Abraham would rise early in the morning and go to the place where he stood before the LORD (Gen 19:27). Moses would stay forty days and night on Mount Sinai talking with God (Exodus 34:28).

Elijah was able to make bold declarations because he stood before the LORD (1 Kings 17:1). David never lost a battle because he was always seeking the Lord like the deer seeks for water (Psalms 42:1). Jesus would rise a great while before daybreak and go to a solitary place and pray (Mark 1:35).

No man can be used by God who does not stay in His presence. In the presence of God, the secret place, God reveals His secrets to men. The presence of God is the greatest asset of the man of God because it is the place of renewal, rejuvenation and revival. Only men who loves and dwell in the presence of God can be used by God.

Dearly beloved, become God's excuse in your family, generation and the world. Become the man that God will use to enthrone and enforce His kingdom, principles, will, and culture on the earth to the end that the earth becomes an extension of heaven.

Stop giving the devil a foothold. Avail yourself as a tool for God's use. Master the points listed in this article.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

Trait Wolves in Sheep's Clothing

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are revenging wolves."

We are living in an era where the manifestation of biblical prophesies has assumed startling dimensions in the past it was rare to hear of false prophets particularly in the big cities performing false signs and wonders, over publicizing themselves instead of Christ. These false prophets could also be identified with large crowds of followership, many of them living in influence. In this lesson, we will lol closely at some features of deception and their implications.

Important lesson

Jesus Christ first used this phrase (wolves in sheep's clothing ) in one of his sermons as he likened false prophets to revening wolves. He gave this broad and narrow gates. The use of metaphor characterized of Jesus. The Lord Jesus specifically pointed out the seriousness not deception that will present itself in various guises and forms. These acts will seem harmless but ultimately seek to make us deviates from following the Lord and eventually destroy us. On this backdrops, this lesson also showcases the sources of these deceptions from church and society particularly, among the nobles and renowned men and women. (1Kings 13:14-22). We are expected to be watchful and diligent in the truth of God's word in the face of the onslaught of deceptions.

Therefore, "Enter ye in at the strait gate. For wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: because strait is the gate, bad narrow is the way, which leadeth into life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come on you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves "(Matthew 7:13-15). Paul, in admonishing the Ephesian elders, warmed about grievous wolves that would not spare the flock (Act 20:17-29)

Victory Over The Bondage And Yoke of Sin in Your Christian Life

Meaning and characteristics of the phrase wolves in sheep's clothing."

This figurative expression is based on the idea that a sheep is a harmless and gentle creature, while a wolf is a cunning, vicious animal that attacks and eats vulnerable animals, such as sheep and lambs. The phrase depicts a hypocrite who pretends to be a Christian, a dangerous person who pretends to be harmless, innocent and genuine or an enemy who disguise as a friend.

Attribute of wolves in sheep's clothing

It's important that we know the traits and activities of these wolves to avoid the being a victim.

1. They exhibit ungodly lifestyles (Matthew 5:20)

2. They frustrate the grace of God, giving room to sin and encouraging others to do same (Roman's 1:32)

3. They distort the word of God by mixing false teachings with the truth (Mark 7:13)

4. They are models of greed, motivated by money and unrighteous gain (Philippians 3:18-19).

Biblical example of wolves in sheep's clothing

1. Cain, after his sacrifice was rejected, feigned to be friendly with Abel his brother and eventually killed him in the field(Genesis 4:8)

2. Amon deceived his father, David and his sister, Tamar whom he eventually defiled (2samuel 13:6-14).

4. The Pharisees and sedducees whose teaching and lifestyles were hypocritical (Matthew 16:6; Luke 12:1)

5. Judas Iscariot betrayed his Master, Jesus Christ, with a Kiss (Matthew 26:49, Luke 22:47-48)

Redemption Through Jesus Christ

Christ hath redeemed us from the of law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is everything one that hangeth on a tree."

Once upon a Time, there was a poor man who owned much debt that he could not pay. Redemption through Jesus Christ, as a result, he became the lender's slave According to their law.

One day, somebody paid all his debt on his behalf, and he was set free. That story illustrates redemption. The death of Jesus was for our redemption.

"For when he were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die".

But God commendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinner's. Christ died for us."(Romans 5:6-8)

Meaning of Redemption

" Redemption" is the translation of the Greek word apolutorsis (Pronounced Apo-ol-oo'-tro-sis) which means ransom in full. Redemption is the full price or ransom Jesus paid as the condition required for the freedom of sinner's (slayes) in order to reconcile mankind with God.

Contacting Grace For Supernatural Exploits

In other words, God bought back sinner's through redemption. This is the same thing that happens today. Ransom is paid to secure the freedom of slaves, hostage's or those Kidnapped?

Meaning of Redemption

Unlike the human situation which necessitates payment or ransom to the captor or the master of a slave, the devil's is not entitled to received any payment for the redemption of sinner's whom he held captive.  God had a different means of redemption.

The precious blood of Jesus paid (His Blood) satisfied all the conditions necessary to secure freedom from sinner's 1 Peter 1:17-19 states "..ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold...But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb Without blemished and Without spot." Jesus gave his life as a ransom for sinner's (Matthew 20:28; Mark 10:45; 1 Timothy 2:3-6). However, only those who believe in Jesus and accept Him as lord and savior are redeemed.

Benefits of Redemption

1. Forgiveness of sin (Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:14)

2. Freedom from condemnation under the law (Galatians 3:13). Note that the law makes everybody quilty because nobody could satisfy it's demands of requirements ( Roman's 3:19-20).

3. Justification by which God makes us righteous ( Romans 3:24)

4. Deliverance from the power of sin (1 Titus 2:14).

5. Legal right to the blessings of Abraham through faith in Jesus (Galatians 3:14)

Conclution:

God is the savior our redeemer and our protector he has the power over us and to saved guide us from all forms condemnations?

What's Prayer for Faith? How to Pray The Prayer for Faith

There is no defining faith without Romans 10:17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. KJV

Faith comes by continuous hearing of the word of God. And faith is built by same continuous hearing of the word of God. Faith is like bricks. The more you add to it, the more it grows.

Also Read: How to Pray in The Holy Spirit

In order to link where we’re driving at, we need to look at John 4:24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth. KJV Emphasis mine.

What is the truth? Truths are practical facts. Practical? That’s derived form the word practice. And practice involves taking action. So, if you must please God, you must believe and practise – act – what you believe. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. KJV

It’s not enough to just keep hearing the word, there’s a need to act what you hear. That’s the way to please God. That brings us to what faith is.

What Faith is faith

Like I explained more in my previous post titled What is Faith, faith is a fact behind the fact. A fact is a reality you can see. There’s no denying a fact. But what matters is what you do about the fact. Do you have a desire for the fact to change? Do something about it. That’s faith.

How to become Spiritual Prayerful

Some people read and read the word in order to have faith against an unpleasant situation in their lives, but they fail to act towards getting rid of the situation. It’s no sin to visit the hospital after you must have read the word to build your faith.

You do not continue to live a lifestyle you know is telling on your health and tend to ignore the health implications because you have faith. You cannot continue to act in such a way that produces negative results and expect something difference simply because you have faith. Whatever we do have consequences, right or wrong, positive or negative.

If you desire a different outcome, start acting on the areas that influence the desired outcome.

Faith is going to the hospital when the sickness continues, after praying and exercising your faith for a reasonable number of days. You can have faith that God can use the doctors to heal you. You can have faith in the drugs prescribed to you by the doctors that God can use them to heal you. How to become Spiritual Prayerful

You need a job and you have faith you’d get one. Get up. Go out there and look for the job. You have a field and you have faith for increase. Go till the field for the increase you’re having faith for. That’s putting your faith into action. Manna fell from heaven for the children of Israel in the wilderness. There’s no doubt about that and there’s no limiting what God can do. But when last and how often do you hear about that? God does not encourage laziness. And He does not encourage stupidity either. Even the lame Jesus healed had to do the work of getting up to get their healing. That brings us to what faith is not.

What is not Faith

Faith is not the denial of the reality. It is the acknowledgment of the reality and the hope of a positive/different outcome while working for the realization of that anticipated positive/different outcome.

It has always been a problem when believers kick start their faith process and fold their hands, waiting for automatic desired results. Faith without work is as good as dead. James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. KJV

Faith is not magic. Faith is no friend to laziness. One can be hardworking spiritually but physically lazy. But Spiritually hardworking does not compliment for physical hard work. And there’s no short cut to hard work.

Faith can turn your hard work to smart work. There’s revelation in practising your faith through work. In the midst of your hard work, God in whom you have the faith can easily drop in some smarter ideas. If you look through the scriptures, God never called an idle or lazy man.

Faith does not make it a taboo to visit the hospital. The work of the doctors should be a booster to your faith. That’s faith with works. Most of the responses and answers to your faith have always been through other people and through other things. What if you’re working towards a solution to the challenge and the solution comes from there? Your faith has worked for you. But that does not mean you should be going about seeking for solution where you should not. God is everywhere but His Presence is not in every place. Some people seek God where His Presence is not.

When you have done all you could do

Remember, faith comes through continuous hearing of the word of God. The word of God we hear regularly helps us believe that there’s an answer to what we seek. As long as we are sincerely and genuinely working towards a solution to a situation, the faith we have in God will always give us the desired outcome.

In the situation where you’ve done all you could do and the situation persists, hand it totally to Him. He knows what He’s doing. You should also bear in mind that whenever you find yourself seeking and acting for solution to a challenge, you must look out for the peace of God. His peace accompanies faith in Him.

Philippians 4:6-7. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. KJV

Quick answer to prayer on how to get rich quick

Quick answer to prayer on how to get rich quick

The one unique principle that exists is that the solution to a problem lies within the problem. This is a fact that only a few is aware of. Do you know that the solution to your financial problem still lies on the problem?

Also Read: How to become Spiritual Prayerful

Let me explain with a proof. In the book of Exodus 15:23, when Moses led the Israelites from the Red Sea into the desert of Shur, they came to the waters of Mara, but they couldn’t drink its water because the water was bitter. The Israelites grumbled against Moses for lack of water and Moses prayed to God. At that moment, God showed him a piece of wood which he threw into the water and the water became fit for drinking. At least three lessons can be gleaned from this event.

Every problem has a solution.

The solution to a problem lies within it, if not close to it.

Sometimes prayer alone does not bring solution, action is needed.

Once you realize that no matter how severe the problem is, that there is a solution, then your salvation is on the way. Your awareness of this builds up hope and the strength to carry on and keep fighting.

Also Read: How To Pray in The Holy Spirit

Again, who could have told the Israelites that the material that has the chemical properties to purify the bitter water is just right beside the water? Sometimes we only need to pause and ponder, doing this gives you a clear mindset to think reasonably. Within the problem always lies the solution, oh yes! The solution is not far from the problem.

All you need to do is to eschew fear and agitation. Let me tell you something, “once fear creeps in, all your experiences, knowledge and energy freeze out”. At this point, you will automatically become dumb and powerless.

However, if you are able to muster courage and make inquiries, then you will find out that the solution to the problem is just near like the piece of wood. All you need to do is to pick it up and throw it into the water like Moses did. Again, sometimes it is not all about prayer, you need action. It wouldn’t be a difficult task for God to cause the water to become fit to drink, instead, He decided to involve man’s action. My brother, my sister, you need to go out there and get something doing to make money.

Okay, back to what we were saying about the solution to a problem being close to the problem. If you are having financial struggle and you are praying for financial breakthrough, my brother, my sister, the ritual to get quick answer to this prayer is “giving to charity”.

Do you know why the Jewish people tend to be very rich, it’s because they have made giving to charity a ritual. Do you know that a typical Jewish man gives charity every morning after praying? He/she puts the money into a box called Tzadakkah box in the Synagogue or at home. Prayer for the Holy Spirit

At the end of the week, the monies will be accumulated and sent to families that do not have enough fund to prepare for sabbath or it will be used to buy food supplies and send to families that do not have enough items for the sabbath day. Is this not amazing? And like I said, it’s a ritual because they do it every day except on sabbath days.

Giving to charity is the number one means of becoming financially okay. It is mystical and you can make it a ritual. It is a ritual used in making quick money. Why? Because God uses you that is giving to charity to take care of others to keep the world going. If He fails to give you the money, many will starve. So, you left God no option than to give you more money because you will use it to take care of His children.

In fact, in many places in the scriptures, God commanded us to give to the poor so that we can get richer; the ritual is already stated. To confirm to you that giving to charity is the only ritual dedicated for getting rich, God categorically created a law of charity in disguise called Tithing, or giving of tithe. Because it is expected of you to do always, it is a ritual.

Conclusion

God answered quick prayers to all who believes in him

How To Become A Spiritual Prayerful

It is possible for a believer to develop a powerful prayer life. In this article, find out how to develop a powerful prayer life & end prayerlessness

We ought to know we must pray and take conscious decisions to ensure our prayers come with the needed power for effectiveness.

What is the point praying when the prayers carry no power and causes no effect?

Prayer was never designed to be a weak, dry and unfruitful enterprise. It is expected to be the womb of possibilities.

The Bible in James 5:16 says that "...the earnest prayer of a righteous man has great power and wonderful results." (Living Bible).

This means at every point in time, our prayers ought to carry a dose of power. Hence power is an integral component which should be found in our prayers.

While it is important to see prayers as the believer's lifestyle and culture and develop a consistent prayer life, we should have this in mind – prayer ought to carry power.

Why Is This Important?

The language of the world today is power and everyone that will get a chance at surviving must speak it.

The church must speak power else the gates of hell will prevail and trample her underfoot.

The world systems are governed by powers stationed at high quarters and if the church of God will triumph, she will need to understand and speak power.

And one of the ways the church can begin to respond with power is when we begin to engage the Monarch of Zion in powerful prayers.
Prayers backed by much power is our foremost tool for survival and we need to excel in it.

This makes the question of how to develop a powerful prayer life an important one.

I trust that with this article, we would all see the need to develop a powerful prayer life and how to develop one.

After reading this, I urge you to practice them, so that we can begin to make much power available by the instrumentality of prayers.

Without further ado, let me show you seven (7) ways I believe would help anyone develop a powerful prayer life.

It is quite a long reading about 12 minutes approximately. So get a cup of your favourite drink and sip as you read.

1. Understanding What Prayer Is.

In this kingdom, knowledge alone is not power – understanding and knowledge births power.

An understanding of what prayer is which I am about to share will spur you into making much power available by prayer.

There quite a lot of definitions around on what prayer is and I do not intend to heap another on you but I may need to.

As touching developing a powerful prayer life, prayer is the awareness, the realization of our helplessness and inability and the volition to make an appeal to the One seated in the heavens for help.

For instance, I want to purchase a laptop which costs about $131 and all I have is $13. I would not be able to purchase it right?

Yes.

But then I have a friend who can give me and is willing to give me the $131. I then go to him, knowing he'd give it to me and most definitely he does.

This is what prayer is in this context. As humans we are unable to do accomplish anything by our power. So, we look to God for help.

On our own, we lack the sufficiency to withstand the turbulence of life and its challenges. But we go to God, in whom we can find peace, comfort and stamina.

In Luke 11:9 Jesus reveals a profound truth to us. He says:

"... Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.

There is a rule even God can not break. That rule is "We must ask and God must answer."

This consciousness and understanding is important when we pray. You know you are praying to someone who is under obligation to answer you.

Furthermore, in John 14:16, Jesus still assures us saying: "If ye ask anything in my name, I will do it.

Anything my friend is anything. Oh how lucky we are? The All-Mighty God is ever ready to answer only if men will take up the volition to ask.

2. Understand Who God Is.

The second point on how to develop a powerful prayer life is to understand who God is.

I touched a bit of this in point number 1 but I still feel like adding more emphasis.

Aside God being obligated and willing to answer us, we need to know that He is able to answer.

There are three things here to digest.
  • The first is God is OBLIGATED to answer.
  • The second is God is WILLING to answer.
  • The third is God is ABLE to answer.

No matter the nature of the request, we rest and bank in the assurance that our God is able to answer us when we pray.

In Ephesians 3:20, Apostle Paul said:

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,"

The implication of this verse is that God is not just able to do what we ask. He can do more than what we ask – there's no limitation with our God.

Prayer and sin are like water and oil – impossible for them to mix. A sinner can not pray let alone develop a powerful prayer life.

Every believer who intends to have power over Satan and walk in the victory Christ has procured must resolve to live holy and pure.

God considers the prayers of sinners an abomination to Him. Prayer offered from the a life soaked in sin brings bad, offensive incense to God.

It is utterly impossible to have any dealings with God without Holiness. And power as a gift from God can only be apprehended in holines and purity.

Only by prayers from a pure heart can we lift up incense to God and be able to trap His power to rule the earth.

5. Consistency is Key To Develop A Powerful Prayer Life

Consistency is unarguably the principle to harnessing the power of any given phenomenon. It doesn't matter what drives and operates it.

To become good at anything, you must do that thing on a consistent basis. Prayer like every other art can be mastered and it is possible only be consistent, persistent practice.

A believer who does part-time prayers will never come into the plains of power in prayer.

God will not be careless to entrust a prayerless Christian with something as precious as power.

Remember my definition of prayer earlier on? Where I said, prayer is the realization of our helplessness and inability and the volition to appeal to someone for help.

Now let me show you how consistent prayers works in developing a powerful prayer life.

The prophet Elijah had just ended a contest with 450 prophets of Baal. Before hand, he had locked the heavens and for 3½ years there was no rain in Israel.

The contest being over, prophet Elijah slayed every single one of the prophets of Baal. He instructed King Ahab to get up and eat assuring him of a torrential downpour.

Elijah climbed up Mount Carmel and casting himself down, he put his head between his knees – he prayed.

After a while, he asked his servant to go check the skies for a sign. The servant returned bearing a negative response.

Elijah was not deterred as he continued seven times sending his servant who kept coming back with negative responses.

Typical of many of us, we would give up, stop praying and quote the usual "What will be, will be." Unfortunately, what will be, will not be, except you make it happen.

End that deceit of allowing life or the universe play out on its own. Command and enforce what you want to see by prayers.

At the seventh time, Elijah's servant returned with some cheering and comforting news saying "Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand." (1 Kings 18:43)

By consistency, Elijah was able to invoke a dimension of power in prayers. Dear reader, God is not deaf, He will answer, you may need to trouble Him some more.

When James tried to explain the power we make available by prayer in James 5:16, 17, there was no better example than Elijah.

God may delay in responding like Elijah's experience teaches us. But eventually, by consistent prayers, we can get Him to respond.

I explained this point in The Right Attitude To Prayer".

6. Pray With The Word

Prayer and the word of God are two inseparable sides of a coin. You can not separate prayers from God's word and the word from prayers.

I love to use this analogy when I try to explain the relationship between prayer and the word.

A gun without bullet can not inflict much damage. A bullet also is just a piece of metal capable of almost nothing.

But when a bullet is loaded on to a gun, the collective impact can be ravaging. That is prayer and the word.

Prayer is the gun. The word is the bullet you load onto the gun. In self-isolation they can not yield maximum impact. But in their combined state, they are powerful tools.

Trying to choose one over the other or substituting one for the other is like saying I would only breathe in and not breathe out.

Whether you want it or not, you survive by breathing in and out. No one stays alive by breathing in without breathing out.

Prayer and the word is like breathing in and out. You can use one and be powerful. They must be combined.

The Apostles were men of great understanding in this matters. When they had to choose either to undertake the noble cause of serving tables and ministerial work.

They choose the more noble venture. They said "But we will give ourselves continually to prayers and the ministry of the word." – Acts 6:4

Stop trying to neglect Bible study because you feel prayer makes you more spiritual. They are important together.

You will find prayer boring unless you have God's word locked up in your inside. Don't you think the reason why you labour so much to pray is because you don't study?

Desist from substituting the word of God for prayers. To develop a powerful prayer life, dearly beloved, you must pray with the word.

7. Submit and Partner With The Holy Spirit

Last but not the least on how to develop a powerful prayer life is to submit and partner with God's Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is our helper and an important aid for praying effectively. You may need to read "Who Do We Pray To: God the Father, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, Angels or Mary?"

Powerful prayers are sponsored by the Holy Spirit and anyone who wants to have a powerful prayer life must partner with the Spirit.

Power is actually resident in God's spirit and to have access to it, you must yield in total submission to the Spirit of God and His government.

It is very important to note that prayer is a spiritual function and its power and effectiveness comes from

It will be foolish for anyone to think they can pray by themselves. Jesus said in John 6:63 "...the flesh profits nothing..." (Paraphrased).

Praying by the energy of the flesh is never profitable. This is why David prayed in Psalms 80:18

"So will not we depart from thee, quicken us and we would call on your name."

No matter the level of zeal and enthusiasm you have for prayer, to pray effectively, we must be quickened by God's Spirit.

You may be strong and feel your energy can make you pray therefore you do not need quickening. You may need to rethink after reading what Romans 8:26 says:

"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."

Even though you think you have the strength to pray, you do not know how to pray. This weakness is why the Spirit supplies strength to help you pray.

To develop a powerful prayer life, you need to partner with the Holy Spirit to help you pray. Without Him, the energy source of prayer is gone.

Why not cry out today for the baptism of the Holy Spirit if you have not been filled before?

He says He will pour out His Spirit on all flesh (Joel 2:28 Paraphrased). Ask for the baptism of God's Spirit even today.

And if you have been baptized, why not allow Him help you pray by saying "Spirit of God, help me pray. I am insufficient in my self."

God is able to make all grace abound towards us. I see His church becoming stronger and being more empowered to withstand darkness.

We all can have powerful prayer lives. We can all make tremendous power available when we pray.

Developing a powerful prayer life is not a fairy tale. But a reality, a possibility in God. We must keep pressing and travailing in prayers till we touch His essence.
