The Price For An Encounter With God

"Zacchaeus, a sinner, a tax collector and a man deemed unfit for the master by the society came into an encounter with Jesus HAVING GONE BEYOND HIMSELF AND HIS STRENGTH AS A MAN" – Brodrick Emmanuel Ebube

Many men and women have recorded notable changes in their lives and destinies by virtue of their encounters with God.

In Biblical times, men like Abraham, Jacob (Israel), Samuel, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Peter, Paul and so many others were introduced into realms unknown by mortals by the virtue of their encounters with God.

Any man or woman who is void of an encounter with God would amount to nothing but a weak, beggarly, suppressed and subjugated individual. The lives of men are shaped by the nature of the encounters they come in to.

Article's Focus;

The focus of this article is to give insight on the need for an encounter with God and the price to pay for such encounter. Our discussion would majorly be based on Bible character, Zacchaeus as I try to explain certain concepts....

Let me tell you a short story....

Jesus in Luke 19 entered the city of Jericho and in that city there was a man identified as Zacchaeus, a rich tax collector.

Zacchaeus according to Luke 19:3 sought to see Jesus but due to the insufficiency of his height (He wasn't a tall man) he was unable to see Jesus.

The first thing I would like to point out on the journey to securing an encounter with God is that it does not happen easily. It can be an uphill task but it bears with it more benefit than any other task on the earth.

Encountering divinity does not come by chance. It takes a well-worked approach to encounter God. Why??

Because nothing glorious is left open. Before you get access to any precious mineral resource lying in the earth you must dig into great depths. Gold, diamond, silver e.t.c are not found on the surface of the earth.

Your brain, heart, lungs, and kidneys are not placed on your body like your fingers but are securely hidden in the body.

God is glorious. Scriptures refers to Him as one who shrouds Himself with great light. God would not reveal Himself to just anyone. For God to show Himself to a person, a price must be paid and the price which must be paid is what I would show you in this piece very soon.

God finds pleasure in concealing things and Himself.

"It is the glory of God to conceal a thing but the honour of kings is to search out a matter" – Proverbs 25:2

God wants you to diligently search all He has hidden and until you have done that sufficiently enough, God would not reveal Himself or that which you seek to you.

Back to my story...

So, Zacchaeus unable to see Jesus because he was short decided to climb up a sycamore tree and as Jesus passed by, He called out to Zacchaeus who was up the sycamore tree to come down for He was going to stay in his place (Luke 19:4-5)

Here are a few lessons to be learnt from this story of Zacchaeus...

1. No one is unfit to meet Jesus

Zacchaeus was labelled a chronic sinner, someone unfit to meet with Jesus. His story is like that of many unbelievers today who have been deemed too sinful to repent and become believers.

No one is unfit to come into the fold of Christ. Nobody is too sinful not to meet Jesus. Why then did Jesus die?
So He could save that one you consider a sinner.
We ought to stop our habit of writing off unbelievers as unfit for the Master.

2. Jesus Never Condemned

One of the prevalent practices of the Body of Christ is that of condemning sinners. I noticed in my little study of scriptures that Jesus never condemned a sinner rather He expressed love towards them and that love was pivotal in the conversion of many of the sinners Jesus met.

As Jesus never condemned anyone, we ought not to condemn also.

3. To Encounter Jesus You Must Go Up The Sycamore Tree

The last lesson I would be talking about from the life of Zacchaeus is that of the price for an encounter. For anyone to have an encounter with Jesus that person must be willing to climb up the sycamore tree i.e pay the required price.

Zacchaeus would never have encountered Jesus if he hadn't climbed the sycamore tree. Climbing the sycamore tree was the price he had to pay for his encounter with God and this leads me to the very price for an encounter with God.

They include;

Price #1 – Genuine Hunger For an Encounter

The first price to pay for an encounter with God is to have a genuine hunger for it; not just a hunger, a genuine one.

Zacchaeus knew Jesus was going to pass through a particular road and on reaching there he found out that he may never get the chance to see the Master.

Here's what hunger did...

Zacchaeus did not give up hope of seeing Jesus rather he sought for ways to see Jesus and then he knew he had to climb up the sycamore tree.

Without a genuine hunger, Zacchaeus would have just gone back home to face his tax collecting job and forget about Jesus. But by a genuine hunger, he came into an encounter with Jesus.

In order to encounter God, you must have sufficient hunger to cause God to reveal Himself to you. The kind of hunger you would need is the kind that the Psalmist illustrates in Psalms 42:1

"As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O Lord."

A hart is a male deer. Deers are fragile animals known to be easy preys for the king of the jungle, Lions and other wild, carnivorous animals. So for the deer to stay alive, it has to run and run.

Due to its fragile nature and the fact that it has to run and run, the deer is always in need of water. A deer doesn't just want water, he needs it if it must survive. Without water the deer is good as being dead. That's the nature of hunger you would need to have an encounter with God.

God must not be an alternative for survival but the only alternative for survival. You must come to a place where God is not one of your many options but the only option.
To encounter God you must display a genuine hunger for Him.

Price #2 – Sacrifice And Go The Extra Mile For The Encounter

Another price I decoded from the sycamore tree and Zacchaeus is that of sacrifice. The sycamore tree is a very large tree with a steep body that makes it uneasy for people to climb it.

Since Zacchaeus was short, climbing the sycamore tree was not just an upheaval venture but it was a very daunting one. This indicates that for an encounter with God, you must be willing to make sacrifices and go the extra mile.

Zacchaeus, a sinner, a tax collector and a man deemed unfit for the master by the society came into an encounter with Jesus having gone beyond himself and his strength as a man.

For you to establish an encounter with God you must go beyond yourself as a human by making sacrifices that are abnormal to humans.

You must make sacrifices in the areas of study, prayers, fasting and other spiritual functions.

You must be willing to pray for another one hour even when your body craves sleep.
You must be willing to fast dry for three-days even when the chicken seems to spicy to resist.

Be willing to makes sacrifices in the lines of your hunger for an encounter.
Pray like you have never prayed before...
Fast till the worms in your belly die of starvation...
Study till your brain capacity gets filled up...
God would surely greet your hunger and sacrifice with an encounter!

The Tragedy of Ease and Why You Must Avoid Them

"Always being at ease is tantamount to shortchanging your destiny and ultimately turning into a failure." – Brodrick Emmanuel Ebube

One of the major distinguishing factor between successful people and unsuccessful people is that the latter fail to do as much work as the former does.

What characterizes the life of a successful man which makes him different from the failure is that the successful man did something; paid a price, put in more work, took more risks and gave in more sacrifices than the failure was willing to.

The focus of this article is to bring your way the consciousness of the tragedy of being at ease and why you must avoid it if you would walk the path of being successful!

The general mentality of failures is the false assumption that "what would be would be" when in reality what would be would never be except they are forced to be.

Successful people bear in their minds the consciousness of the fact that there's so much work to be done hence there is no room for complacency, being at ease or being idle.

Show me a man or a youth who dislikes work and prefers to be at ease and I would show you someone whose ultimate destiny is to fail.

Success doesn't just happen. Becoming successful is a function of hardwork and diligence. Success is not a product of wishes and desires. Nobody becomes successful by chance. You consciously and deliberately work towards success.

It is only failure that sustains the fortitude to meet with anyone by chance. The moment you relinquish the place of hardwork and diligence for wishes and desires you present yourself a living sacrifice fit for failure.

Always being at ease is tantamount to shortchanging your destiny and ultimately turning into a failure. I get very perplexed when I see youths at ease in the face of the magnanimous work their glorious destinies need before they manifest.

It pricks my heart when I see that the daily routine of the average youth revolves round hanging out with friends, watching movies, partying, sleeping and social media. Youths are now very complacent and at ease, not coming to the realization that they've got so much work to do.

In the end what we produce are old men opening gates for small boys and answering "Yes sir" to persons who they are old enough to give birth to.

Without further ardor what are the tragedies of being at ease.

1. Losing Out In Destiny

"Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed." – Jeremiah 48:11

The scripture verse above speaks of Moab, a person. This Moab was at ease all through his days as a youth. He dwelled all his youthful days in ease and with so much complacency but something transpired in the next verse;

Jeremiah 48:12

"Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles."

Since this Moab was complacent all the days of his youth even the little he had was going to be plundered away.

A youth that remains at ease would lose out of all the goodies life and destiny has in store for him. Moab was at ease and his state of ease during his youth made him lose out of destiny. His latter days was that of misery and lack.

If you do not want to lose out on destiny and what it has in store for you then you must flee ease and complacency.

2. Hardwork at Old Age

One way or the other there's a season in a man's life when he must work.

Jesus said;

"I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work." – John 9:4

This clearly shows us that there is a time for work and a time where work can not be done. The day is the timeframe earmarked for work to be done.

In the life of a man, the "daytime" represents the youth stage. It is at this stage that one is expected to work. The "nighttime" is old age where work is not supposed to be done but sadly many trade their "day" and work at "night" when they're supposed to be resting.

The Prophet Jeremiah makes an assertion in Lamentations:

"It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth." – Lamentations 3:27

The time to do work is during your youth because this is the point where your passion, your will and your strength are all strong, alive and fully active.

The night time, old age, is the period for rest because all your strength would be gone at that time but unfortunately many work at old age.

Whether you want it or not, you must work. If you do not work during the day when you have your strength you must work during the night when you're weak and tired!

Like Jeremiah counsels, I counsel you today work now that you're young!

3. Becoming A Failure

Another tragedy of being at ease is that you end up becoming a failure. Refusing to do work is a perquisite for failing in life.

Success is not a product of wishes and desires neither is it a product of idlenes, complacency and being at ease. To be successful you must consciously and deliberately work and walk towards it.

If you have the mentality that luck would shine on you or that what would be would be, let me shock you;

First there's nothing like luck. Success doesn't meet you by chance, you must take the right steps consciously and deliberately to achieve it.
It is only failure that sustains the fortitude to meet with you by chance.

Debunk that idea that luck exist. Successful people are not lucky. When you see a successful person do not say he is lucky, find out what he did to become successful.

Secondly, what would be would never be. The only time what would be would be is when you force them to be. You don't wish for things to be, you force them to be.

If you want success you don't sit and wait for it to come, you work for it to come!

In conclusion, the pathway to becoming successful is not of ease and complacency. Successful people do not give in to ease. They have in their subconscious minds that they have to work and they afford ease and complacency zero breeding space.

To be successful, you must avoid the ease and its tragedies. Always being at ease is tantamount to shortchanging your destiny and ultimately turning into a failure!

Contacting Grace For Supernatural Exploits

Your performance of exploits in God is predicated on the amount of grace you've been exposed to. – Brodrick Emmanuel Ebube

Several individuals have displayed varying levels of manifestations and these manifestations find their worthy sources on the strength of the grace which these individuals have contacted.

From Biblical characters such as Paul, Peter, John, Elijah, Elisha, Moses and so many others showcased unrivalled dimensions of supernatural exploits.

In our day and time, the likes of E.M Bounds, John Knox, Benny Hinn, Arome Osayi, Joshua Selman, Daddy E.A Adeboye e.t.c are reckoned for the dynamic kinds of supernatural manifestations they've brought the Body of Christ.

One ever-present phenomenon in all of their lives both the men in the Biblical times and those in our day and time which accounts for why they were or are able to perform supernatural exploits is that they contacted grace for exploits.

None of them did what they did by virtue of their own strength. They all made contacted with grace and that grace facilitated their ability to perform mind-boggling exploits.

Interestingly, the performance of these supernatural exploits were not made only for these fathers of faith. Jesus speaking said

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." – John 14:12

From the above scripture we see that the criteria for performing exploits is believing in Jesus. Anyone who believes in Jesus is a candidate for the performance of exploits.

Unfortunately, so many believers do not walk in the reality of this truth. The average believer is weak and beggarly, unable to bring about the performance of the tinniest level of supernatural manifestations.

Nevertheless, the key to supernatural exploits rests in the contact of grace for its performance. When you come in contact with grace which is sufficiently enough to cause you to walk in dimensions of supernatural exploits you automatically walk in it.

Sometime in 2017, Apostle Joshua Selman came to the Federal Polytechnic, Bida and on the first day of the programme as soon as he stepped in everyone was falling under the anointing.

That day he didn't preach. He just continued the immense impartations.
On the second day of the programme, he told his audience that he could switch on the presence and switch it off whenever he wanted to.

The audience were thrown into shock when he called out someone to shake him. The guy shook Apostle Selman on leaving his hand, Apostle Selman asked the guy to shake him again and the young man did all he could but couldn't shake Apostle Selman.

As soon as you come in contact with grace, you would never struggle to perform exploits. Exploits for you would be a very natural thing.

So then, how do we contact grace for supernatural exploits? I would be outlining four ways in which you can contact grace for supernatural exploits.

1. Have an Encounter with Jesus

 The grace of God is Jesus. Titus in chapter 2 and verse 11 says;

"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men"

Titus calls Jesus the "grace of God". Everything you desire to be and to do in God's Kingdom becomes possible only when you secure an encounter with the man Jesus.

All the men and women who have walked in diverse dimensions of supernatural exploits had encounters with Jesus. Any man who seems to be operating exploits without a distinct encounter with Jesus is operating via an unclean spirit.

Apostle Paul, the moment he met Jesus in Acts 9 was introduced into an overwhelming level of supernatural exploits so much so that he who was the least of the apostles became the most influential.

If you seek supernatural exploits then you must seek an encounter with Jesus. It is not enough to just believe in Jesus and accept His gift of salvation. You must have an encounter with Him.

2. The Study of The Word

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." – 2 Timothy 3:16 - 17

To perform supernatural exploits you must be an ardent student of the word of God. God's word must find deep root in your life if you would ever command any form of supernatural manifestation.

My mentor shared a story with me of how he was embarrassed by a lady he was trying to pray for. He kept praying for her and shaking her rigorously in his bid to cast out a demon in her.

The lady got tired and yelled at him in pidgin English "Na so them dey do, you just dey pour me spit" (Is that how they do it? You are just spitting on me).

He was so embarrassed but then he  encouraged himself to study the word and find out what he wasn't getting right. After studying the word for so long, he went for a meeting and even before he started to pray people were already falling under the anointing – amazing transition right?

This transition was possible because he gave himself to the study of the word of God. If you take Bible study as a part-time activity you would never come into the place of the performance of supernatural exploits.

3. Prayer

The most prevalent trait you would always find in the lives of men and women who operate in unsung dimensions of supernatural manifestations is prayer.

The art of prayer is the producer of supernatural manifestations. The Bible speaks about Elijah in James 5:17

"Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months."

Prophet Elijah was able to shut the heavens from producing rain on the strength of his prayer life. No true supernatural manifestation would happen to a man who doesn't have a secret place.

The place of prayer is a place of power and authority thus anyone who spends quality time in the place of prayer would be able to trap enough grace for the performance of supernatural exploits.

You will never work supernatural manifestations until you're completely sold out to prayers. Your life would be empty and dry except you embrace the culture and master the art of prayer.

Prayer is quintessential for accessing grace to perform supernatural exploits.

4. Humility

I am sure you're wondering how this point relates to contacting grace for supernatural exploits.

I would like you to know that, anyone who is proud would never come into the operations of supernatural exploits. If you desire to walk in dimensions of power and authority then you must be deficient of pride.

"But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble." – James 4:6

Imagine when God is resisting a man! That man would never know any good talkmore of walk in supernatural manifestations. God opposes and resists the proud. He would not release grace for supernatural exploits on the proud.

It is by humility that you can contact grace for supernatural exploits. As God resists the proud, He is keen to all who are humble and lowly. People with such traits become endued with grace for the performance of supernatural exploits.

Pride only leads you to destruction. To be used of God you must be deficient of pride. No one who is pride can amount to any form of rank with God only the humble can accurately manifest supernatural exploits.

In conclusion, you must understand that the performance of supernatural exploits is not meant for Pastors, Apostles, Prophets and the likes but for every believer (John 14:12).

With the four points outlined above, you would be a worthy candidate for the performance of supernatural exploits.

See What's Stopping You From Praying As You Want To

"In partnership with the Holy Spirit, we are introduced to terrains and atmospheres of extreme spirit sessions during our prayer time" – Brodrick Emmanuel Ebube

Prayer is one phenomena that has been given so much emphasis in the Body Of Christ. The Church is supercharged with so many teachings on prayer and any member of a true apostolic ministry would relate and reconcile with this fact.

If you have been an ardent follower of Gospelcaster, Inc you would have noticed that a great percentage of my emphasis lies within the lines of prayers.

This is because a believer is nothing without prayer. The art of prayer is the whole duty of man and there's an urgent need that we all master the art if we must navigate through this world successfully.

But despite all the emphasis on prayer, I still noticed a defect; believers are unable to pray as against their wish and desire to do so.

Using my life as a case study and the lives of several others around me, I found out that the awareness of the need to pray lies in almost every believer but this awareness is not enough to spur one to pray.

As I sought to unravel the mystery which is responsible for the believers inability to pray despite the urge to pray and I stumbled on the revelation which I would be sharing in this piece.

I know you have always desired to pray for five (5), seven (7), twelve (12) hours but you struggle to pray for thirty (30) minutes and when you pray for an hour it is as though you've prayed for a whole day.

Today, I would be showing you why you desire to pray but can not pray as you want to. Journey along with me.

The first thing I want you to realise is that desire is not enough. Your desire to pray is not enough to make you pray.

It is true that desire forms the building block of any action but if all you have as regards prayer is a desire you would not attain to your maximum potential in the place of prayer.

The second thing I would like to establish is this; prayer is a spiritual function and its operation rests within the jurisdiction of the spirit which sponsors that action.

The operation of a spiritual function is carried out under the jurisdiction of a spirit. To carryout a spiritual function you must come into partnership with the Spirit that controls and governs the operation of that function.

Prayer as a spiritual function is operated perfectly under the auspices of partnership with the Holy Spirit.

I found out that what we lack in our prayer life is partnership with God's Spirit. Trying to pray in the energy of the flesh is tantamount to weaky weightless, short-lived prayer sessions.

Partnering with God's Spirit when you come to pray introduces you to terrains and atmospheres of extreme spirit sessions during your prayer time.

When you pray by the help of God's Spirit, time is inconsequential. Time is not a variable as you can go on and on without realizing it.

How does the Spirit's partnership with us help us to pray?

The Spirit of God possesses the ability to help us pray. Apostle Paul made us to understand that because we are humans we have an infirmity which is our inability to pray as we ought to.

The Spirit of God takes away our infirmity; of praying wrongly and not spending quality time by praying for us. He seizes our vocal cords and uses them to perpetrate divinity's will and counsel.

Basically, why we are unable is because we are deficient of quickening.

"So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name." – Psalms 80:18

In as much as we desire to stay in the place of prayer and spend quality time with God we are unable to because we lack quickening.

Asaph in the scripture verse above makes us understand that it is in us to want to rush out of the place of prayer as quickly as we came in but when God's Spirit quickens us we would find time completely inconsequential.

Not until you're quickened by God's Spirit, you would not be able to pray as you want to pray. Without the quickening by the Holy Spirit prayer would be a boring struggle for you.

Backed up by your desire to pray should be the quickening of the Spirit. As soon as the Spirit quickens you, you would begin to enjoy prayer so much so that your intent all the time would be to pray.

As you desire to pray, desire that the Holy Spirit injects your spirit man with the quickening syringe. The only solution to your inability to pray despite your desire is quickening!

Ask God's Spirit to quicken you today and always!
God Bless You!

Why Your Prayers Seem Not To Be Yielding Results

"Prayer is not something you start doing now and find worthy effect. Effects and impacts from prayers comes from a stream of investments in prayer time." – Brodrick Emmanuel Ebube

Severally, the thought of being prayerful without any palpable result leads to majority of the backsliding and decline in fervency which seems to be ravaging the Body of Christ.

The idea of praying gradually becomes sidelined overtime in the life of a person who seems not to be getting even the tinniest amount of responses for his/her prayers.

We've listened to and sat under so many ministrations targeted at revealing the immense benefits which are derivatives from the technology of prayer yet these "teachings" to many are but myths and legends.

Why is it so? What do we seem to be missing in our prayer walk? Why are we not yielding palpable results from our times and sessions of prayer?

Today, By His grace, I am going to be exposing one of the reasons why we have not yielded effects from our prayer sessions. The reason we are have not been able to trap palpable responses and results from heaven as I would be sharing is encapsulated in the concept of the cumulative nature of prayer.

The Cumulative Nature of Prayer

Prayer is never a fire brigade function to orchestrate quickly that which you desire. Many believers do not pray until they are face to face with life-threatening challenges.

Such an approach to prayer is a wrong one. If you pray only when you figure you need divine intervention you're completely wrong!

Prayer is not something you start doing now and expect to find worthy effect. Effects and impacts from prayers comes from a stream of prayer investments.

Praying only when there's a dire need of urgent intervention would not yield sustainable and substantial results because prayer is a cumulative function.

"And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odors, which are the prayers of saints." – Revelation 5:8

John reveals to us the storability of prayers. Prayers can be stored. In the same way we save money in the bank, we save prayers in golden vials.

Over every issue there is a golden vial for storing your prayers on that issue and until that golden vial is filled up, God is not compelled to act on that case.

If a vial by God's jurisdiction should take ten (10) hours of prayers to fill, your thirty (30) minutes fire-brigade cry would not solve that issue, would it?

Let me use a more relatable analogy. Suppose you have a debt of $10,000 and all you have in your bank account is $1,000 can you pay up that debt? No way!
To be able to pay the $10,000 debt you must have saved up to that amount in your account already.

God would be handicapped to act over an issue until the vial for that issue has been filled up with prayers.
The degree of results you command is the decree to which your prayers have filled up your golden vials.

So, the problem is not with God or your inability to articulate the right prayer language but because your prayer time is not sufficient enough for God to act.

Instead of feeling bad that God has refused to answer your prayers or consider losing your fervency of service to Him, brace up because it is a challenge to pray more.

Your prayers are not yielding results because they've not been accumulated sufficiently enough to bring about the results you desire.

God is not a tyrant. God is not wicked. You can't seek God and not find Him. You can't ask Him for bread and He gives you stones. He is a loving God ready and willing to answer His own when they call.

Do not be discouraged! Just PRAY MORE!!
